This week marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15 - 10/15). The theme for 2021 National Hispanic Heritage Month is “Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope, inviting the celebration of Hispanic Heritage and to reflect on how great our tomorrow can be if we hold onto our resilience and hope;” Hispanic Americans have played an integral role in our nation’s history and culture, making many contributions to the military, business, artistic, political, academic, and scientific communities. This important time recognizes the presence and significant contributions of Hispanic Americans by celebrating their heritage and culture. At MWMS, we have planned some activities designed to acknowledge the achievements of Hispanic Americans and to pay tribute to the diversity of the Howard County community! This month let’s all commit ourselves to learning and listening about the incredibly rich and diverse history of Hispanics, as well as embracing their cultural contributions.
