Summer Program Registration Information

Due to the cancellation of activities on February 1, the Innovative Pathways High School Summer program (grades 9-12; formerly Comprehensive Summer School) and the Summer Institute (grades K-9) first on-site registration will now take place on Wednesday, February 6th, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Homewood Center.

Online registration will now open on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. and will remain open through Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

Each summer, HCPSS offers learning experiences and educational opportunities through a variety of programs and classes. The summer classes and camps are open to both Howard County and out-of-county residents.

Summer School Preview at a Glance

Innovative Pathways Program – High School

The HCPSS Comprehensive High School Summer Program is designed to provide diploma-bound students entering Grades 9 through 12 with opportunities to support academic achievement and acceleration. The program offers high school credit-bearing courses in a variety of content areas and levels.

The Summer and Evening School Programs, along with Digital Education and other beyond school day/year academic opportunities, will be merging under the Innovative Pathways (IP) Program. There will be many course opportunities available throughout the school year through the Evening School Program.

The Snap Shot Sheet provides information in regards to course offerings, tuition, and registration. This program is an opportunity for students to have access to courses for recovery or acceleration for student success.

Gifted and Talented – 2019 Summer Institutes for Talent Development

The G/T Summer Institutes provide interested students with advanced-level instruction and enrichment experiences not regularly available during the academic school year.

Catalog – G/T Summer Institutes for Talent Development

Registration by mail only. Registration forms are available in the catalog. Completed registration forms can be mailed to the GT Office beginning February 1.

  • Session I: July 1–July 12, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Tuition: $288 per student

  • Session II: July 15–July 26, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Tuition: $320 per student

Registration and Information – Innovative Pathways

Register

Online registration for English, mathematics, science, and social studies courses opens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6. In-person registration will be held at the Homewood Center from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Online registration for Art, CRD, ESOL, Gear Up for 9th Grade, Health, Lifetime Fitness, and world language courses opens at 6:00 p.m. on March 1. In-person registration will be held at the Homewood Center from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Once a course opens, it will be available for course requests from the 1st–15th of each month.

Location: Atholton High School

Dates: June 24 – August 2

Tuition: $550 per credit

8:00 a.m.–12:45 p.m., five days a week

  • Mathematics, Science, Lifetime Fitness and Health

1:30–4:00 p.m., three days a week

  • All Blended Digital Courses

Location: Hammond High School

Dates: June 24 – August 2

Tuition: $550 per credit

7:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Registration and Information – Summer Institute

Register for Summer Institute

Online registration opens on February 6 at 6:00 p.m. Parents will also be able to complete a registration application in person at the Homewood Center on February 6 from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

  • Dates: July 1–July 26
  • Times: 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Tuition: $650

Locations

  • Clarksville Elementary School: Students entering grades K–4
  • River Hill High School: Students entering grades 5-9

Before and After Care available for additional cost.

Registration this year is a 2-step process

  1. Complete the application form above. The application is a single page that asks for basic contact information and student names and grades. You may use a single form to complete an application for up to 5 students.
  2. Parents will be contacted by email in the order in which applications were completed with a link to the registration form and a unique ID number. If your student is ineligible to enroll, you will be contacted and next steps for eligibility will be discussed. Reasons for ineligibility include outstanding balances, or incorrect age or grade level for a program.
